Okay, so I’m going to give everone a little advice here, something that I’m sure a lot of people have some questions about, especially in the gothic subculture.
Pale Skin.
First of all, it is important that you accept your body and skin for what it is. For some people, pale skin is harder to come by but that is no need to fret! All skin is beautiful, no matter what.
On the other hand, there are people who like to push themselves to try and obtain this ghostly palor but aren’t sure where to start or feel like they are missing something.
For me, I was born into an Irish family, therefore my skin is naturally more pale than most, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t try to make myself even lighter. I did some research on the topic and I found these tips:
~Wash your face with a scrub/ exfoliator or a cleanser that has a gritty sory of texture to it. This removes any dead skin on your face and allows the newer (and lighter) skin underneath to come through.
~Make sure you use sunscreen! Anytime you are outside, regardless of whether or not it is cloudy or cold or hot. Sunscreen is a must. I use the Neutrogena Ultrasheer Liquid SPF 100+.
~Avoid the sun if you can. Playing outside all day in the direct sunlight will not help if you are looking to be pale.
~Find a light colored foundation. Now, keep in mind, I am not refering to the white gunk that halloween stores sell. We are aiming for pale and macabre, not clowny. I don’t use any makeup on my face aside from eye makeup because I have very sensitive skin and tend to breakout easily, but, there are some good makeup brands that I have heard of, such as Photoready.
~A while ago, I made a mask that I used to lighten my skin and as far as I could tell it worked, but I may have just imagined that, I don’t know. Here it is anyway, if anyone wants to try it: Bleached flour, lemon juice, cold water, and I think I used some sort of chemical but I wouldn’t suggest that because I don’t want to be sued or something if it melts someones face off. For the other stuff, just add however much of that stuff you want and leave it on your face for 40 minutes and then rinse it off. Repeat every day for however long you want :P
~Rub an ice cube all over your face or wash your face in the morning with cold water. It works, trust me.
That’s all the advice I have for the moment. If I think of more I will post it. The video is something that Kill Natalie did a while ago for pale skin. Her other videos are great, too so check her out sometime. Her youtube channel is BatcaveDilema.
